Snooker Rules - All Variations
Snooker is one of the most popular billiard games in the world where the player should demonstrate strategic and tactical skills. The rules of Snooker are somewhat more complex than Pool's, so if you are not familiar with this game, do take some time to read the following. We encourage you to print out these games rules for future reference.
Object of the Snooker game
One player must score a greater number of points than opponent. The winner of a game is the player who has the highest score, once all balls are pocketed.
How to play Snooker
The White Ball: For every variation of Snooker games the white ball is the ball which the cue has to hit. The white ball’s movement affects the results of the game. Snooker is played with red balls (whose quantity depends on the game variation), 6 colored balls and a white cue ball. Pocketing a red ball is worth 1 point; The points obtained on pocketing the colored balls are as follows:
Yellow - 2 points
Green - 3 points
Brown - 4 points
Blue - 5 points
Pink - 6 points
Black - 7 points
While there are still red balls on the table, the ball a player should hit (and pocket) alternates between red balls and colored balls, until there are no more reds on the table.
When there are reds on the table, and the turn switches to the next player, the ball to hit (and pocket) is always red. Pocketing a colored ball must always be preceded by pocketing a red (unless there are no reds remaining on the table).
If you have just pocketed a red you may now shoot at any color, the color that you first hit is the one you must pocket - pocketing a different one is a foul.
When only colored balls remain, the balls must be potted in an ascending numerical value.
In case of a tie, the player which made the last shot will receive ball in hand on the D area, and will try to pocket the black ball which is re-spotted. He who pockets the black ball wins the game.
